"I Need Some Space" - The introvert's mantra.

The dreaded 'S' word.
This phrase can imply a few things, but I'm gonna go with the introversion slant.
I'm like any other introvert, in that I find it absolutely draining to be forced to indulge in sociable settings where small talk with strangers are involved. However, if the conversation turns to topics which I'm passionate about, more often than not I'd be engaged in it. I might even enjoy it. But those are few and far between. So through force of will, sometimes I would tell the introverted 'self' to shut up so I can at least pass off as a well-adjusted, self-assured adult and engage in a 'normal' conversation with another human being. At least for a given time.
And usually, as a result of this 'force of will', I'd be left drained out and left wanting to go off and recharge for a bit. I'd be on 7 (7 being the level of extroversion on a scale of 1 to 10) for a few hours, and then be totally spent for a week and a half. Which leads me to wonder whether in being forcing myself to go against the very fibre of my being, to put it dramatically, I might have unknowingly fried a few wires that reside somewhere in the vicinity of my brain. I sure hope not. But hey, I'm already socially skewed in the first place, so who cares?
