If you are an introvert, more often than not you don't really know how to react or feel or formulate your thoughts and emotions when an unexpected situation presents itself. You would need a certain amount of time to process the information. It's like - "Now wait a second, should I feel angry or sad or call the police or Google it? What do i do here?"
It certainly is true for me. I would be immersed in something and would be giving it a hundred percent attention, and then a colleague, out of the blue, would show up at my desk and inquire about something. The result of that will be me snapping from whatever I was into and wondering which year I'm in now. It literally feels like being attacked.

Introverts are s-l-o-w thinkers. We react slowly to things. And when a situation presents itself that needs decision-making, we need a little time to let that sink in. So for example, when an invite - if it happens - suddenly appears, the knee-jerk reaction to it would be, "Of course I'm not gonna go! Do they actually think I'd show up??" But then you let that information sink in, and map out a scenario in your head to rationalize why this wouldn't be as bad as you think it would be - you sigh and go "Well ok, let's get this over with."
It is what it is, it's how we're wired. So here in the "Might Club" - remember rules 1 and 2. And then you can proceed as you see fit.
